Microsoft Database Software

How can Microsoft be left behind any technological entity in the field of database development? That is the reason why it is important for us to know Microsoft Database Software. Broadly categorized to desktop managed databases, server managed databases and web-enabled databases, Microsoft Database Software takes a lot of forms and can be run through a variety of technologies.

What are the different forms of Microsoft Database Software?

  • Microsoft Access - Possibly the simplest database software, also known as Access Database Software. It is a simple desktop managed application which allows users to store records and retrieve them through effective query designs. Most importantly, the users will be able to customize their Access file as per their need by programming their access database. The only limitation of Microsoft Access Database is that it resides on your database but you could easily overcome that by collaborating it with the web.

  • Microsoft Jet Database Engine - A database engine is the basic principle for driving databases. This allows the database to work in a very systematic way. Microsoft Jet Database Engine is one such database software which works on the principle of database engine driving the database. Microsoft Access or Visual Basic is used as the underlying database engine. Microsoft Jet Database Engine has been followed by the development of Microsoft Desktop Engine and then followed by SQL Server Database 2005.

  • Microsoft SQL Server - Microsoft produced a Relational Database Management System which uses Transact SQL as the primary SQL language. The Microsoft SQL Server database is the database in talk which originated from the Sybase SQL Server. The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 was released along with Visual Studio 2005 and currently, this database is available for users to download off the internet free of charge. The Microsoft SQL database communicate using a protocol called Tabular Data Stream(TDS). ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is a technique which is supported by MS SQL Server 2005 allows the database to establish connectivity with other databases.

  • Visual Foxpro - Originating from Foxpro, Visual FoxPro has turned out to be a very effective database. Visual FoxPro employs object oriented and procedural programming techniques as the basic driving principle to the database. Visual FoxPro is designed for usability with a COM Based operating system with Microsoft stating that it would not be employed on a .NET framework.

Other databases like a SQL database form the list of database professional software released by Microsoft. Indeed, a SQL database software provides enough database support to ensure that the users needs for managing databases effectively.
